Museum Lessons

Museum Lessons are designed to support K-12 educators in meeting national and state standards for teaching subjects such as biology, chemistry, health science and history. Each lesson applies medical history and images from our collection to core learning objectives at different grade levels. The Museum also works closely with educators to customize lessons that meet the specific needs and interests of their students. We invite you to contact us to start a conversation about how we can serve you.

In this online exhibit, we identify the four main types of germs, the various risks they pose to human health, and how they are medically treated. We also explore the early history of vaccines, the development of the germ theory of disease, and some of the deadliest epidemics in history, including yellow fever, smallpox and polio. The slideshow is illustrated with 22 images
